HELLO!

ABOUT ALISHA

I always knew that my very favorite thing was connecting deeply with people. I’ve had lots of different jobs, directions and interests, but something small but mighty inside me was always quietly, gently nudging me towards my current practice.

I worked in jobs that were great, worthy causes, but the stress and anxiety of them seeped into me over time.  I was constantly anxious.  I would look at my endless to-do list and feel my chest tighten.  I constantly wondered when it would feel different—where was the light at the end of the tunnel? I had a sense that something was off, but I needed to know myself more deeply to really understand what I needed.  I couldn’t see the whole path, but I felt like I could see the next step—what I call the ‘next right thing.’  I found a therapist and a meditation sangha, and got to work.

I was already a social worker at this time, but doing my own deep therapeutic work, as well as diving into the world of meditation and Buddhist psychology changed the way I practiced therapy.  I moved from feeling directionless and unsure, to feeling genuinely connected to myself and what I wanted.  I settled into myself—my decisions came from my wisdom, not from fear and anxiety.  I was able to show up differently at my job.  I led my team with a sense of stability and clarity.  I trusted myself and I trusted them.

Eventually I left that job to move full time into my private practice.  I had honed that wise voice inside me, and listened to it carefully.  I am so passionate about helping people find the clarity and wisdom that already exists inside them.  We often feel that we may not have that wise voice that knows the next right thing, but I’m certain you do.  I thought I had to create wisdom and clarity, but all I had to do was reveal it within me.
